Fiteo — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 August 2026

Fiteo is a calorie and macronutrient tracker for iPhone. It has no account, no sign-in, and no cloud sync of your personal data. Almost everything stays on your device. A few things leave it only when you choose to: the meal text or voice note you submit for an estimate (only to compute it), a pseudonymous, non-reversible device identifier used only to count your free estimates before you subscribe, and — if you share a recipe by link — that recipe's content. This policy explains exactly what is sent, to whom, and what we never collect.

Data stored on your device only

Everything you log stays on your iPhone: your meals and their estimated nutrition, weights and body measurements, goals, your meal schedule, and app preferences. This is kept in the app's local storage on the device. We do not run a server that stores this personal data, and we cannot read it.

Meal estimation (AI)

To estimate a meal's calories and macros, the meal description you type, dictate, or record as a voice note is sent — only when you submit a meal — from your device to our processing service (a Cloudflare Worker), which forwards it to a third-party AI provider whose large language model (LLM) generates the estimate. The provider currently used is Google (Gemini). The provider may change in future versions; this page will be updated if it does.

What is sent is the meal text only (for example, "two fried eggs and a slice of bread"). It is not linked to an account or to your identity. Our processing service is stateless and does not store your meal descriptions. We use Google's paid Gemini API, under whose terms Google does not use the content to train its models and retains it only briefly for abuse and legal purposes. Google's handling is governed by its own Privacy Policy and Gemini API terms.

Free usage limit

Before you subscribe, Fiteo lets you make a small number of free AI estimates. To count these per device — with no account — the app sends a pseudonymous, non-reversible identifier: a one-way SHA-256 hash of Apple's per-vendor identifier (identifierForVendor). We never send or store the raw identifier. Our processing service keeps only a running count against this hashed value; it is not linked to your identity, meals, weight, or health data, is never used for advertising or cross-app tracking, and is not shared with anyone. It resets if you delete the app.

Dictation

If you dictate a meal instead of typing it, Fiteo uses Apple's Speech framework to transcribe your voice into text. That text is then handled exactly like typed text (see "Meal estimation" above). Speech recognition is governed by Apple's privacy terms.

Voice notes

Instead of typing or on-device dictation, you can record a short voice note (up to 45 seconds) describing your meal. When you submit it, the audio recording is sent — the same way as meal text, and only when you submit — from your device to our processing service (the Cloudflare Worker), which forwards it to Google (Gemini), whose model transcribes it and generates the estimate in a single step.

The recording is created on your device solely for this purpose and is deleted immediately after it is sent. It is not stored on your device or on our processing service, and it is not linked to an account or to your identity. As with meal text, we use Google's paid Gemini API, under whose terms Google does not use the content to train its models and retains it only briefly for abuse and legal purposes (see "Meal estimation" above). The microphone is used only while you hold the record button.

Apple Health

If you grant access, Fiteo reads from Apple Health to compute indicators and your energy balance: body weight, body-fat percentage, waist circumference, and energy burned (active and basal). Fiteo writes back only one type of data — your body weight — and only when you change it in the app. Health data never leaves your device: it is not sent to our service or any AI provider, not written to logs, and not uploaded anywhere. You control this access at any time in iOS Settings → Health. Deleting Fiteo does not remove samples already saved in Apple Health; manage those in the Health app.

Subscription

AI meal estimation is part of "Fiteo Pro", an auto-renewable subscription with a free trial. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple (StoreKit); we never see your payment details. To confirm you have an active subscription, the app sends Apple's cryptographically signed subscription transaction to our processing service for verification — this contains no personal data (it identifies the product and that the subscription is valid, not who you are).

Analytics

Fiteo uses TelemetryDeck for privacy-preserving, aggregate usage analytics — anonymous event names only (for example, that a screen was opened). It does not collect your meals, weights, health data, name, email, or any identifier that points back to you. You can turn analytics off completely in the app's settings; the opt-out is honored immediately. Fiteo uses no advertising, attribution, or third-party tracking SDKs.

Website waitlist

If you submit your email on our website to be notified about the App Store or Android release, we store that email — only with your explicit consent — with our processor Cloudflare, solely to send you a launch notification. We keep it for about 12 months and then delete it automatically; you can ask us to delete it sooner at any time by emailing fiteoai@gmail.com. We also briefly log your IP address to prevent form abuse. This waitlist is part of the website only and is separate from the app, which still requires no account or email.

Recipe sharing

Fiteo lets you share a recipe with a link. When you create a share link, the recipe's content — its title, ingredients, nutrition values, preparation steps, and — if you added one — its photo — is stored with our processor Cloudflare under a random, unguessable identifier, so that whoever opens the link can view and import it. This is a recipe you choose to share; it carries no account, no personal data, and nothing that identifies you as its author. Any photo you add is re-encoded before sharing, which removes embedded metadata such as camera and location (EXIF/GPS) information. Anyone who has the link can open it (like an unlisted link), so share it only with people you intend to. Links (and any shared photo) expire automatically after 90 days, after which they stop working. Opening or importing a shared recipe needs no account and is free. You can ask us to delete a shared recipe sooner at any time by emailing fiteoai@gmail.com.

Importing a recipe from a link

If you paste a link to a cooking video (for example an Instagram Reel, TikTok, YouTube Short or Facebook video), Fiteo can pull the recipe out of it for you. To do this, the link you paste is sent from your device to our processing service (the Cloudflare Worker) and on to Supadata, a processor we use to read the recipe (title, ingredients and steps) from that public video. We send only the link you chose to import — no account and nothing that identifies you. The extracted recipe is returned to your device for you to review and edit, and a copy is cached with Cloudflare for up to 30 days so that the same link imports instantly next time; nothing is added to your day until you save it. This feature is available to Pro subscribers.

What we do not collect

Children

Fiteo is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Deleting your data

Because your data lives on your device, deleting the app removes the meals, measurements, goals, and preferences stored by Fiteo. Data you previously wrote to Apple Health remains in Apple Health until you delete it there. Manage your subscription in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change and the revised version will be posted at this address.
